Show your Work, Share your Why
11 July 2025
“People don’t remember what you did. They remember what it meant.”
Good solutions are valuable. Sharing your working out is transformational.
It’s tempting for us to focus solely on delivery … tick the task, close the project, move on - but if no one sees the thinking behind the solution … the learning, the decisions, the rationale, the mistakes, … the real value gets lost.
Here’s a shift:
Don’t just present your solution. Tell the story of how you got to your solution.
What problem did it solve?
What insight shaped your approach?
What made it hard, and how did you adapt?
What went wrong before you got it right?
Whether you’re an individual contributor, a leader, or a team:
Build the habit of narrating your impact
Connect outputs to outcomes
Translate your working out into language that others can champion
I mention this here because progress without context is forgettable.
However, when people understand the why behind the what - they lean in.
They remember.
They advocate.
You’re not just building solutions.
You’re building trust, momentum, and credibility.
Remember, the path to extraordinary is walked with a thousand small steps, you’re doing great!
